This therapy involves circulating the blood outside the body
for about 3-4 hours and removing the permeability-related
factors present in the plasma of the elderly through a special
filter.
It is expected to not only treat inflammation, allergies,
autoimmune diseases, hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, and
other conditions, but also to have a preventive effect on
cerebrovascular and cardiovascular disorders and aging.
Before and after the treatment, many people report feeling
an improvement in overall health, such as "clear
improvements in cholesterol levels, inflammation-related
factor levels, and excessive autoimmune levels" and "feeling
more youthful and energetic".
There are three types of plasma exchange therapies:
"simple plasma exchange (PE)", "double-filtration
plasma exchange (DFPP)", and "plasma adsorption
(IAPP)".
"DFPP" separates plasma from blood using a membrane
plasma separator and passes it through a secondary
filtration membrane to remove pathogenic substances
present in the plasma. Substances that cannot pass
through the secondary filtration membrane are removed,
and those that can are returned to the body.
To prevent hypoalbuminemia (a condition in which
albumin, a protein present in the blood, is lower than
normal), albumin solution is supplemented.
